ABOUT US

Brick by Brick Medical Corporation is a parent non-profit corporation comprising the following 4 branches: a medical services branch, a healthcare education branch, a low-cost healthcare clinic branch, and a community center branch. Our overarching goal is to increase access to healthcare, increase health literacy within our local communities, and foster a positive and supportive community for students and healthcare personnel to grow and develop as individuals and further their career goals. As an organization, we are currently focusing on setting up the event medicine side first. Currently, Brick by Brick Medical Corporation is devoting a majority of its resources in establishing the medical services branch, Critical Minutes Event Medicine prior to developing our other projects.

OUR MISSION AND VISION 

Our overarching mission is multifactorial with an emphasis in increasing affordable access to healthcare; decreasing the burden on county emergency and local hospital systems; providing equal opportunities in the healthcare field to individuals of all backgrounds and socioeconomic status; establishing strong community ties; increasing diversity in the healthcare systems; encouraging and promoting a healthy lifestyle; and filling in and providing community resources.

We envision a non-profit that provides medical services to local events to help in alleviating the stresses on our local EMS and hospital systems; providing networking opportunities with a variety of health professionals through mentorship and shadowing opportunities; providing opportunities for all individuals to gain exposure to medicine in the form of service or education; increasing access to healthcare through the establishment of low-cost community clinics; and provide educational services to further advance healthcare professionals in their field as well as educate the general public to increase healthcare literacy and understanding.

Meet Our Board of Directors

  • Carolyn Ngo

    CO-PRESIDENT

    Hello! My name is Carolyn and I’m one of the Co-Presidents of BBMC’s Board of Directors. My co-founder and I met while working as EMTs and quickly shared the realization that healthcare was not equally accessible as both a service and a career for all individuals, thus laying the foundation for what Brick by Brick has become. Throughout the last decade or so, I have witnessed and personally experienced obstacles to care such as cultural differences, language barriers, and time constraints, and I believe these are too commonly encountered in medicine. I strongly believe that healthcare is a right, and that it is part of our responsibility as healthcare personnel and advocates to help decrease the burden that social determinants of health have placed on many vulnerable communities. In my involvement with BBMC, I hope to be able to make a difference in the inequities mentioned above as well as guide future generations of healthcare personnel to be culturally responsive, empathetic individuals. I am extremely excited to be a part of an organization that is so passionate about our community, improving healthcare, and educating our future generation and can’t wait to see what BBMC can achieve.

  • Jean-Paul Orogo

    CO-PRESIDENT

    Hello! I'm Jean-Paul, the BBMC Board of Directors Co-President. Growing up, I experienced first-hand how difficult it could be to access healthcare due to rising costs, work schedules, transportation issues, or language barriers. In turn, I wanted to positively impact my community, so I pursued a career as an EMT and volunteered at local community health clinics. Over the years, it pained me to see how social determinants of health negatively affected my community. In joining BBMC, I want to leave a lasting impact on our community by providing low-cost healthcare services, educating the community about healthcare, and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. I am grateful to be a part of an organization that shares my personal mission, and I am excited to strengthen and build our community, brick by brick.

  • Makenzie Schwartz

    SECRETARY

    Hi! My name is Makenzie and I am the Secretary for Brick by Brick Medical Corporation.I have been in the medical field since 2016 when I went to EMT school. I am now a Paramedic and I specialize in prehospital medicine. I am honored to be a part of an organization that is focused on increasing access to affordable medical care, education, and access to the medical industry within all parts of the community. My colleagues and I live by the motto of “don’t forget where you started” and I hope to help impart that on everyone we have the pleasure of working with.

    TREASURER

    Hi! I'm Megan, BBMC Treasurer. I am so thrilled to be apart of Brick by Brick Medical as an organization because I strongly believe in the accessibility to healthcare and health education. As a first generation Asian-American, I have witnessed the struggles of inaccessibility to healthcare due to costs and language barrier within my own community, as well as many other communities. As a self-proclaimed advocate for health, I am empowered by BBMC's mission to bring low-cost services and education to the community. To be apart of an organization where everyone is so passionately working to support the community is hugely motivating, and I am excited to be apart of and see all that BBMC can accomplish in the future.
